As its name suggests, the ‘Beethoven Rediscovered’ boxed set will be an opportunity to rediscover the composer’s repertoire through original approaches to interpretation, notably through recordings on the fortepiano by Alexei Lubimov, Olga Pashchenko, Arthur Schoonderwoerd and Yury Martynov, who perform the famous symphonies transcribed by Franz Liszt between 1837 and 1865. This trend for organological reconstruction also explains the presence in this set of the complete symphonies and overtures performed on period instruments by Jos Van Immerseel and his Anima Eterna ensemble – a good way to come as close as possible to the sounds that Beethoven may have heard in his time…
