Severin von Eckardstein, fascinating and secret first laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2003, is not a stranger in the piano world anymore. Regularly host of important piano festivals like the Ruhrfestival, the Miami festival, La Roque d'Anthéron; and very known for his magisterial interpretations of the most demanding concertos, the German pianist has realised his first recordings, awarded by the press, at D&G. After a Glazunov's first concerto with the National Orchestra of Belgium and Walter Weller (FUG 521), he is back at Fuga Libera for a Schubert recital. This is an ideal field for the expression of his talent: because von Eckardstein, incredible virtuoso who doesn't fear the technical difficulties, is above all a being in communication with the inner world of composers like Beethoven, Schumann, Scriabine or Medtner. And the one of Schubert matches him perfectly. Here it is, besides the monumental D959, the unknown « Reliquie » D840: two wonders to be discovered under the fingers of a great artist of today.
